Q.
Hi Dr.- I was told a few years ago by my hygienist that I had gingivitis. back then I was in my first year at college and constantly had problems with my gums randomly bleeding without provocation/irritation. It happened once when I was riding my moped, I had to pull over and swill water and wait until it stopped. anyway after that, unwittingly i didnt visit the dentist for a further two years (four college/academic years). This was my fault as I had serious concerns over my future and didnt think for anything other than college and Uni etc. anyway I have very little problems with my gums, they rarely bleed now which has to be good, they look better. I had stepped up my oral hygiene a bit and they hygeinist the other week said that I just had a bit of mild inflammation around one tooth which I can get rid of easily and will keep up dental appointments, what I want to know is how long does it take to get rid of gum disease? based on what you yourself have treated? cheers
