Could mouthwash have made my situation worse?

Q.
I think I have a mild case of gum disease, admittedly I got lazy with brushing my teeth when I had my baby 3 months ago so I’m now paying for y actions. Only a small area of my gum is now swollen and sore as I have been using eludril whilst I’m waiting to see the dentist, however since I’ve been using it for the last few days, I woke up today and my gums are even more painful!! My gums are starting to look better but the pain is worse, is this normal?? Thanks

Hi, I believe your symptoms may be related to the alcohol in the Eludril formulation, especially if you have not respected the right dilution of the product. That may be “sensitizing” you. I would advise you to suspend its use or maybe recommend another type of mouthwash without alcohol, for example Corsodyl-Alcohol free, try www.dentalshop.co.uk (I’m not sponsored) or your local chemist.
Nevertheless, you’ll need a screen/diagnosis from your dentist and adequate treatment for your gums, as these mouthwashes aren’t the “answer” to your real problem.
