My daughter had 8 veneers last year, she recently went to her dentist who told her she needs 5 fillings one behind a veneer, could this have happened in 12 months?

Q.

My daughter had extensive work done on her teeth last year. She had around 8 veneers to build up and improve her smile. Her front tooth is dead (she was hit in the face by a football 10 years ago) and used to look grey so this was also fixed We were recommended this dentist by a friend and he has a good reputation. She has recently moved to London and has been having tooth ache. She has just returned from a dentist there having been told she needs 5 fillings, one of which is behind a veneer and that it looks like she has not been to the dentist for years. The dentist showed her xrays of where the fillings are needed. Surely her teeth could not have decayed that badly in 12 months? What should she do?

I only brush my teeth once a day and never had any problems, today my gums started to bleed, is this a sign of gum disease?

September 17th, 2012
Q.

Hi, i’m a healthy 22yr old female and I only ever brush my teeth once a day, i have a healthy diet, i don’t floss but i use mouth wash and so far the only problem I’ve had with my teeth (aside from braces in my early teens) is 1 filling when i was very young. but today without any see-able reason my gum started bleeding. it happened very suddenly when i was in work and there was no apparent reason for it. is this a symptom of gum disease?

I had my tonsils taken out recently and my gums have now started to swell up, is this due to the operation?

September 5th, 2012
Q.

Jose – I have a question for you about my gums! I’ve recently had my tonsils taken out because i was getting tonsillitis very frequently. So after my operation my throat was very sore so i was eating ice cream and cool drinks to ease the pain. Recently my gums have been swelling up, I’m not sure if its something to do with the operation or is it the change in diet? I don’t eat very much dairy products normally. Whats your advice? Cheers!

What is the best type of tooth paste and brush to use?

September 5th, 2012
Q.

Jose, I am very worried about my gums and teeth, i never used to be that fussed, recently i’ve just developed a real obsession. In your opinion what type of brush and toothpaste is the best on the market at the minute? I see so many adverts all saying that they clean deeper and better than the others, but i just wanted an experts opinion. I use a cavity protection paste at the minute and just a normal brush with no special bristles! Thanks!

I have given up smoking but am using nicorette gum, will this aggravate my gum disease problem?

September 5th, 2012
Q.

Hello, I have been advised by my dentist that I have a bad problem with gum disease. I have given up smoking and am still using nicorette gum can this aggrivate it? As well as this my mum has had a problem with it, I am on anti depressants and have been taking HRT as i started on the early menopause at 38 yrs old. From what i can see all of these things can be contributory, is this the case and if so what would you recommend as I am very concerned? Thank you
