The gum under my lower teeth seems a little too red to me?

January 26th, 2012
Q.

Hiya i am 23 years old. I have recently noticed that my gums under my lower front two teeth are becoming a little red. The gums around the teeth are becoming a little loose too,but not to the extent of hanging off. The gums judt.move if i touch them. The gums and teeth don’t hurt and i have no pain at all. When i wake up in the morning there is no redness, but throught the day it appears. I am currently using Oral B toothpaste, and have bought acohol free Chorysdal mouthwash.I was just
wondering what this may be? I also rinse my mouth in warm salt water to prevent infection. Please can you help?

What can be causing my breath it’s really affecting my confidence?

January 19th, 2012
Q.

Hi i hope you can help me as i do not seem to be getting any help from any one or seem to be getting any correct answers from any one. I have been having problems with bad breath and bleeding gums for nearly 20 years now. As far back as i could remember its been hapning since i was about 8 years old and i am 28 now. I do admit i was very lazy in brushing my teeth when i was young and i know now that it was the cause of bleeding gums… i have visited the dentist couple of years ago to clean my teath but the bleedin kept on coming back. I have just recently visited the dentist again to clean them and the bleeding has stopped. The first visit i made to this dentist i started bleeding again after 1 week of cleaning my teeth so i went back again and the dentist cleaned the teeth under the gums with a mecanical tool and since then i have gone 2 months without bleeding which is the longest ive been with. The problem i have regarding bad breath i thought was due to the bleeding but i still suffer from the problem.. What do you think is the problem.. One thing i have noticed is tha my mouth does dry up a lot and that might be the cause of it. I have tried everything and it is really embarrasing to talk to people face to face.. I mentioned this to the dentist who said i have to visit the doctor..He also mentioned that the plaque that was hardened underneath my gums could be the cause of a dry mouth.. One other thing i do suffer from is indegestion and heartburn on a regular basis which obviously means i have too much acid inside me, could that not be the cause of bad breath? My bad breath is so bad that it even smells straight after i have brushed my teeth and also after anything i eat…Is there a cure for this or do i have to keep on suffering, if there is a cure what is it? and is it related to my acid problem i have? I have also had a filling done on my teeth but since then it has gone really sensative and is not improving, it is more sensative to cold food and drink and to cold air, the dentist said it will go away but it has been 3 months and not improved even with using sensodyne toothpaste.. Please help i cannot live with this bad breath problem anymore.. thank you so much for taking the time to read this far!!

I know I shouldnt but I drink alot of fizzy drinks all the time energy drink in morning and at weekends coke sometimes during day but I also drink alot of milk an orange juice! Alot of fast food and take sways but salad and veg is well I have a healthy lunch and never usually eat sweets but occasionally chocolate but it hurts to eat chocolate so I hardly do It and if I do I suck it the pain is always at the back mostly right

Could mouthwash have made my situation worse?

January 11th, 2012
Q.

I think I have a mild case of gum disease, admittedly I got lazy with brushing my teeth when I had my baby 3 months ago so I’m now paying for y actions. Only a small area of my gum is now swollen and sore as I have been using eludril whilst I’m waiting to see the dentist, however since I’ve been using it for the last few days, I woke up today and my gums are even more painful!! My gums are starting to look better but the pain is worse, is this normal?? Thanks

Am I likely to suffer from periodontal disease if my mum and nana did?

January 11th, 2012
Q.

hi there,

Long story short, My mum and my mom’s mother both had periodontal disease. My Nan had the gum treatment done that costs a few thousand, and lost all her teeth anyways. My mum put crowns on all of her top teeth. Her teeth disintegrated underneath and she ended up getting dentures also. This was when she was about 40 though. I also have periodontal disease. I have had it for a few years. So I went to a new dentist, he seems pretty honest. He did a very thorough evaluation and said I have 14 cavities on my upper teeth, 2 are in the middle of a root canal, and I would need 2 more root canals on the other side. I have 6 cavities on the bottom. He said to do things right and not do patchwork that is only really a temporary fix he would do like an overhaul on my mouth…and that my top teeth would pretty much all need crowns…the total with my insurance came too $17,000. Which I absolutely do not have. Not even close. So my mom and I were talking, and she thinks I should just go ahead and get a snap on full denture up top, and then get fillings on the cavities on the bottom. She says she went the crown route and ended up with dentures anyways…and her mom did the gum treatment and same thing. She said neither of them had teeth as bad as mine at my age (I’m 24). She thinks even if I had the $17,000 to do it…it would be a waste. What do you think? I am scared about having no upper teeth at my age. Yet, the dentist told me if I do not take care of the teeth now I will be looking at serial extractions within the next couple of years.

I need a mouth overhaul, will gum disease stop me?

January 11th, 2012
Q.

hello i have gum disease, as as such am losing a tooth at the front Left had side. My other 3 front top teeth are also crooked, and my question is, would you advise a brace that would fill the gap where my tooth that is loose would be, or would you advise an implant for the missing tooth and cerec or composite veneers for the other teeth? My overcrowding on the other 3 teeth, could they be fixed with a dental putty rather than a veneer, or is that exactly what a veneer is anyway? where my tooth is loose my gum has receded into a kind of inverted ^ shape. Instead of relying on gum restoration could it be stitched together to encourage growth and lessen the appearance of the gap? thanks
