I am looking for a Bone One Session Treatment practitioner. Can you advise?

January 9th, 2012
Q.

I would like to locate a practitioner for the BOST treatment. I have been diagnosed with periodontal disease and have lost six teeth so far and the disease seems quite aggressive. I have been seeing a periodontist in Bristol, however have now moved to Kent. I have had two hygiene appts so far with root surface debridement planned for the third appt in Januar., Having read your article on Bone One Session Treatment (BOST) it would seem to be the answer. Can you please advise?

The tooth I have had treated is still causing me pain, what could be the problem now?

January 4th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I had my tooth taken out in march this year. Everything was fine until september when I started to get tooth ache, well more gum ache. The toothe behind the one I had taken out was checked in September by my dentist who tapped it and put an ice cold swob on it It was fine. The pain comes and goes and last week I visited my dentist again. He looked at the back tooth again but all looked fine. I did say that the gum was a bit sore when brushing my teeth and that I sometimes had the odd spot of blood when brushing. He smoothed with the drill both the top and bottom two teeth at the back in case my bite was different as I had had the tooth taken out in march. He told me to leave it for 3 weeks and if the pain persists to come back. Could the pain be caused by movement of that back tooth as it has no other tooth to nestle against.
The gum aches but not the tooth. The tooth is not sensitve to cold or whilst eating. I had wondered if my back tooth had also become diseased but the xray I had in march only showed that the one in front of it was the problem which I then had taken out. Everything has been fine for the last week until yesterday when the pain has come back slightly. Can I get rid of this by brushing more frequently as I brush 3 times a day every day.

My front tooth is sensitive to cold and gums are red and sore. What is the cause?

January 4th, 2012
Q.

Hello Jose,

Ive recently gotten over a nasty head cold and am experiencing mild upper jaw pain I was thinking that this was my sinuses as Ive had that happen before. However, I also have slightly red, but sore gums above two teeth on that side, a few teeth in from my front ones, and one in particular is sensitive to touch or cold air. I first noticed its sensitivity when I went to a hygienist appointment 3 weeks ago and the scrapping caused a sharp sensitive pain. I go to the dentist once a year and the hygienist every 6 months religiously and try to take care of my teeth, so would be suprised if this was cavity pain. I have noticed an increase in the sensitivity of all of my teeth recently perhaps because I had to change from my electric toothbrush to a normal one for a while? Or do you think this is the start of gum disease?
I’m 27, and have no history of gum disease…had no fillings either.
Thanks!

Is gum disease causing my face to become inflamed and swell?

January 3rd, 2012
Q.

Dr Dunn,

I have been suffering from what I think is severe gum disease. I have spoken with my dentist about the constant inflammation of the gums and pain to my right side of my face and was given amoxycillin. However I have been sufeering with this for years and the inflammation is getting worse causing slight disfiguration to the right side of my face where i have some missing and have a bridge in its place. Please could you advise on what I could do to remedy this situation once and for all as the pain is getting worse. Many thanks
