I have a stinging pain in my gum when I drink hot/cold drinks. What is this?

September 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi Doc
I’ve been having pain on my right upper and lower teeth line that has been bothering me for some time now.Whenever i drink too cold or too hot fluids i get a sharp stinging pain on the right side teeth.
What do you think could the problem be?
Could it simply be because of the plaque buildup? Who should i visit for this, is there any particular type of dental practice?
Please reply.
Thanks
very much

Can you advise on proper maintenance of oral health in terms of cleaning teeth?

September 28th, 2011
Q.

I have always brushed flossed etc and as such never had any problems however recently my teeth have started crossing, the issue is that I cannot get the floss down anywhere near the gum line to clean properly. i managed it once and regretted it! it wouldn’t go and i wrongly insisted it would- it did eventually just ramming into my gum and making them bleed to add insult to injury it wouldn’t then come back out! as a result ive not done it in a while I just wanted to ask what i could do about it in terms of cleaning, im getting giddy with my brush going in at all angles but am worried id be getting overzealous is there anything you could advise me on when cleaning? and would gum disease start in just a small area like that if so could it cause any damage?

My gums have started to bleed at the slightest touch. Can I stop it?

September 27th, 2011
Q.

Hi there, recently my gums have started to bleed under the smallest bit of pressure. So even eating foods like apples or pears can cause them to do this. Could there be any reasons apart from the obvious gum disease? Is there anything I can do to stop it? thanks for your time

I have a crack in my gum but I don’t recall making it. What is it and who do I see, doctor or dentist?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

Im worried about my gums state of health, I have a long split in my gum from my right canine(?) tooth leading upwards towards my cheek inside my mouth, it has been there for a month now and seems to heal then reappaer, it doesn’t hurt unless I touch it continually. Who do I see? a Doctor or a dentist for this and what could have caused it as I don’t recall eating anything sharp like crisps to have had this appear. Thankyou

I think I have gum disease but I am embarrassed to go to the dentist. What can I do at home?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

I think that I have gum disease so i am rather embarrassed to go to my dentist because he will think that i am dirty and don’t clean my teeth properly. So is there anything that I can do to try and cure my gum disease at home? I have braces so find it hard to clean my teeth as good as i use too

I’ve been diagnosed with gum disease. Other than going to the hygienist can I do anything else to help?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

Hi I have been told that I have the start of gum disease and my teeth are starting to separate, probably due the recession of the gums, I have now started seeing my hygienist every  three months I was just wondering if there was anything else I could do myself at home or wherever to help the situation along or will this just continue to occur regardless

Many thanks

I’m at uni and will struggle to visit a dentist, but what is this red thing on my gum?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

I’m 18 went to the dentist less then a month ago said maybe signs of gum disease so went through oral health advise etc with me. Now I have a sore below my front tooth the area surrounding it is slightly red and swollen. However the rest of my gums arent swollen and red, and I havent been experiencing bleeding when brushing. I suffer regularly from ulcers which is what the sore looks like however it is the position and the fact its not stinging like a normal ulcer which is worrying me. I’m at uni where it is extremly difficult to get to see a NHS dentist, I know its best to catch it first but I go back home and can see my regular dentist in December can I wait if there are no more developments and keep practising really good oral hygiene-floss, brush properly, mouthwash

Can I do anything to instigate gum growth in order to reverse the effects of wobbly teeth?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

hi, I have several loose teeth and was wondering what I could do to sort them out or whether or not I can? they are all the front teeth on the bottom. they feel wobbly but I don’t know if its just play in the teeth? how much play should there be in teeth? if indeed there is to much play then what can I do? I know enamel on teeth cannot grow back but what about gums? if they regenerate health and stimulate growth then surely the teeth if not to far gone will they be less wobbly? im booked in for an appointment at my dentist but im not on NHS any more so I had to wait until after pay day which is in 2 weeks so I was seeking a bit of advise in the mean time, any feedback would be brilliant! thanks a lot.

I think I have a form of gum disease how can I stop it?

September 14th, 2011
Q.

Hi i’av been researching online and i have come to the conclusion that i do infact have some type of gum disease, however i am still waiting to go to the dentist to get this confirmed. Since some of my adult teeth are wobbly (only slightly) do you think a scale and root plan will sort them out? or is it more serious than that?
