I’m at uni and will struggle to visit a dentist, but what is this red thing on my gum?

Q.
I’m 18 went to the dentist less then a month ago said maybe signs of gum disease so went through oral health advise etc with me. Now I have a sore below my front tooth the area surrounding it is slightly red and swollen. However the rest of my gums arent swollen and red, and I havent been experiencing bleeding when brushing. I suffer regularly from ulcers which is what the sore looks like however it is the position and the fact its not stinging like a normal ulcer which is worrying me. I’m at uni where it is extremly difficult to get to see a NHS dentist, I know its best to catch it first but I go back home and can see my regular dentist in December can I wait if there are no more developments and keep practising really good oral hygiene-floss, brush properly, mouthwash

Hi and thanks for your question. Although you have given a fairly detailed description of what is going on in your mouth, I could not possibly give you any specific advice regarding if you can or cannot leave this problem until December. My advice has to be to let a dentist see the problem and take if from there.

Sorry that I cannot be more helpful in this case.
