I think I have a form of gum disease how can I stop it?

Q.
Hi i’av been researching online and i have come to the conclusion that i do infact have some type of gum disease, however i am still waiting to go to the dentist to get this confirmed. Since some of my adult teeth are wobbly (only slightly) do you think a scale and root plan will sort them out? or is it more serious than that?
A.
The severity of the problem can only be assessed after a thorough clinical and radiographic examination of your gums and bone supporting your teeth. Root debridement (scaling and root planing) in conjunction with good oral hygiene can stop the disease in the majority of the moderate cases and some advanced cases. Tooth mobility is usually associated with advanced gum disease but not always as there are other factors that can associated. If you have advanced gum disease and your dentist will be able to confirm if this is the case, root debridement will be beneficial but you will need a reassessment following this treatment to evaluate whether you need further treatment.
