Hello Dr, I have part dentures and i hoped to hang on to my remaining teeth but i have bleeding on my eye tooth, is this the end?  I clean 4 times a day and use mouthwash. I am mid sixties and cant afford very expensive treatment .I noticed the last time i went to my dentist to have the front tooth removed he didnt suggest cleaning. I did not like to ask as i went national health. I used to go private with the same dentist but my circumstances changed after 2 berievments and suddenly not working. Any advice would be great.

I’ve got flu like symptoms and my gums started bleeding quite a lot, I’ve been advised to use Corsodyl, will this cure my problem?

Q.

Hi Dr Ian Dunn, I was wondering if you could help me, I have recently been having flu like syptoms and it seems overnight my gums have started bleeding quite alot and becoming inflamed after cleaning. They have not been bleeding prior to this for some reason i am linking it to this. I have looked into several websites inc Nhs direct and have been advised to use corsodyl which i started using yesterday. Will this be able to cure them and is this the correct procedure plus should i floss to get rid of all bacteria that has built up. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

I have recieved different opinions about my gums from my hygienist and NHS dentist, who is right?

Q.

Dear Dr,

I first had periodontal treatment with cleaning under the gum line and antibiotic applied a year ago. After that I was told to see the hygienist every 3 months. I went after 6 months (not 3) and was told that I needed the treatment again.

I just went to a NHS dentist and have been told that my gums are fine and he gave me a quick clean (5 minutes). Also said that I should see him every 6/12 months.

Who should I believe ? The second one is NHS and I feel he ripped me off.

Thanks

Can I do anything to instigate gum growth in order to reverse the effects of wobbly teeth?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

hi, I have several loose teeth and was wondering what I could do to sort them out or whether or not I can? they are all the front teeth on the bottom. they feel wobbly but I don’t know if its just play in the teeth? how much play should there be in teeth? if indeed there is to much play then what can I do? I know enamel on teeth cannot grow back but what about gums? if they regenerate health and stimulate growth then surely the teeth if not to far gone will they be less wobbly? im booked in for an appointment at my dentist but im not on NHS any more so I had to wait until after pay day which is in 2 weeks so I was seeking a bit of advise in the mean time, any feedback would be brilliant! thanks a lot.

My teeth really hurt but I don’ have a NHS dentist help?

August 19th, 2011
Q.

I am a 27-year-old single mother with periodontal gum disease. My teeth are in really bad shape, and the pain is excruciating. I haven’t got a NHS dentist and I am on a very tight budget. I know that there’s nothing I can do to save my teeth, but could you please let me know if there’s anything I can do to just reduce the amount of pain I’m in? Everyday’s getting harder, and I’m at the end of my rope. I don’t mean to sound so desperate, but I guess I am. I would appreciate any advice you could give.
