I have recieved different opinions about my gums from my hygienist and NHS dentist, who is right?

Q.
Dear Dr,

I first had periodontal treatment with cleaning under the gum line and antibiotic applied a year ago. After that I was told to see the hygienist every 3 months. I went after 6 months (not 3) and was told that I needed the treatment again.

I just went to a NHS dentist and have been told that my gums are fine and he gave me a quick clean (5 minutes). Also said that I should see him every 6/12 months.

Who should I believe ? The second one is NHS and I feel he ripped me off.

Thanks

A.
If you have or had active gum disease with pocketing and inflammation of your gums causing bone loss you should undergo a thorough clinical examination and risk assessment to determine whether further treatment is required or not and for consideration of a maintenance regime adequate to your level of risk. If you are not satisfied with the assessment and explanations that you have received ask for a referral to a specialist periodontist.
