Can bleeding gums point to anything other than gum disease?

January 13th, 2012
Q.

Does bleeding gums definatly mean gum disease when brushing?
I get little bit of bleeding when brushing
And when eating I dometimes get really bad pain at the back of my teeth had this for ages
Now today and last night I have had a constant horrible pain in my back two teeth causing headache and a little swelling ! I don’t really know how to treat it I’ve taken paracetamol just so I could get to sleep and I brush my teeth more times which seems to reduce the pain but it’s not gone away completely know matter what I do ? I know I shouldnt but I drink alot of fizzy drinks all the time energy drink in morning and at weekends coke sometimes during day but I also drink alot of milk an orange juice! Alot of fast food and take sways but salad and veg is well I have a healthy lunch and never usually eat sweets but occasionally chocolate but it hurts to eat chocolate so I hardly do It and if I do I suck it the pain is always at the back mostly right

Can gum disease return?

October 13th, 2011
Q.

Hi im wondering, having suffered from gum disease for a while, when would I notice- or would I notice when and if periodontis began to develop in my mouth as opposed to gum disease??
I am keeping up my oral hygiene exercise so to speak and actually think my gums are recovering/re cooperating or wt ever- they’re getting better than they were I can now brush up and against them without them hurting or bleeding (they would never do this unexpectedly just when caught) but now theyre begining to become pink- still slight red patches but 80% better, however im always paranoid itll come back and if so what should i look out for?

I clean and floss everyday yet my gums are bleeding, what can I do?

October 12th, 2011
Q.

I’m only 19 and in the past few days i’ve noticed that my gums bleed when i brush as well as when floss. I always clean my teeth twice a day and floss everyday also. I have also noticed that one of my teeth appears to have gotten longer but i havn’t ever really paid attention to/noticed it before so i dont know if this has been sudden or not.
Is this likely to result in gum disease or is it more likely that i brush my teeth too hard day in day out?!

I have white spots on my gums, do I have gum disease?

September 5th, 2011
Q.

I go to the dentist for a check up every year and she hasn’t mentioned anything about gum disease too me. However I think that I might have it because all over my gums at front theres tiny white spots covering them. Please could you tell me what are the symptoms of gum disease, also what kind of treatments are there?

I don’t brush every day, do I have gum disease?

August 30th, 2011
Q.

I don’t brush my teeth daily (stupid I realise) and recently my gums have become sore and bled when I brush my teeth, is there a risk i have gum disease? If I do have gum disease is it reversible? If you can reverse it then what can I do to stop my gums from bleeding and protect against gum disease?

Why have my gums started to bleed?

July 22nd, 2011
Q.

Hi

i have always been really good at keeping my teeth and mouth clean through what I think is proper dental hygiene practice ( brushing twice a day, fluoride mouthwash and flossing) but i have recently started noticing an increase in blood when i am brushing my teeth and this is worrying me greatly. is it possible that i am brushing too hard ony my gums and this is the root of the problem? or do you think i could have underlying gum disease? should I go and see my dentist, I feel like I’l be wasting his time though.   thanks for reading and any help you can give me would be greatly valued
