Can gum disease return?

Q.
Hi im wondering, having suffered from gum disease for a while, when would I notice- or would I notice when and if periodontis began to develop in my mouth as opposed to gum disease??
I am keeping up my oral hygiene exercise so to speak and actually think my gums are recovering/re cooperating or wt ever- they’re getting better than they were I can now brush up and against them without them hurting or bleeding (they would never do this unexpectedly just when caught) but now theyre begining to become pink- still slight red patches but 80% better, however im always paranoid itll come back and if so what should i look out for?
A.
The potential for gum disease is always there, once a gum disease patient, always a gum disease patient. You are doing all the right things with your oral hygiene but you should also attend for 3 monthly hygiene appointments.

That said, the main thing you are looking out for is bleeding when you clean. That said, you can have no bleeding superficially and still have active problems beneath the surface. I would ask you dentist or periodontist to assess if your gum health is stable or not.
