Can gum disease also damage my teeth?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

hi there I have a question regarding gum disease and its effects. you may have to correct me if any of this is wrong to confirm with me- I know it’s called gum disease because its primary problem areas lie with the gums, inflammation, bleeding and gum destruction. my first question is 1) is there a difference between gum recession and gum destruction? and 2) can ‘gum’ disease affect the teeth? the problem is that I think my gums have receded/been destroyed if there is a difference, but tiny gaps have started to appear between my teeth not where the gum was but most of the way down the sides of my teeth. if these are both signs of gum disease what can I do to stop and reverse the process or id this not possible?

I got over periodontal disease, can it return and what do I look for?

October 14th, 2011
Q.

Hi there, I am very pleased to say that I got over my periodontal disease and have previously used this site and have had great/helpful feedback from yourself that pointed me in the right direction in terms of identifying what how serious the problem could have been and indeed was. thankyou for this. however im a bit worried that even though Ive been keeping up my oral hygiene routines he signs of gum disease seem to be returning but im not sure, is it possible to contract gingivitis after getting over periodontal disease (I thought if I was to catch them both it would have been the other way around as in gingivitis first Then periodintitis?) what are the very first signs or gingivitis or does it just start with bleeding gums?

What can I do to save my teeth?

August 30th, 2011
Q.

I have always had problems with gum disease from being a child, now that I’am older my dentist has said that my teeth are getting very loose and that maybe i should start thinking about getting them all extracted and false teeth fixed instead. Is it too late now to try and stop myself from loosing my teeth or should I start looking into false teeth and ammitt defeat?

How can I stop my teeth being wobbly?

August 2nd, 2011
Q.

Good day to you Doctor, I can’t say that I looked after my teeth very well when I was younger because I didn’t and now as a result my adult teeth are becoming very wobbly, and my gums have receded a fair bit in addition to this. However, there not as wobbly as they use to be so Iam wondering if theres anything that I can do to reverse these affects? and if not then what do I do to stop them getting any worse than what they are? Many thanks for your time

Can I get braces after gum disease treatment?

July 20th, 2011
Q.

Hello

I have recently been treated for gum disease and i feel better and i just wondered would I be ok to get braces? I was thinking of getting invisalign as they are removable and so less likely to get dirty being in my mouth all day. What do you think? Would that be a good option?

thanks for your time
