Q.
I have had red gums for 6 years, dentist tryed every thing then i went to doctors she gave me medicine twice ,but nothing helps, could you help me ,i must say i did have Pylora
A.
Red gums are a common sign of gum disease (plaque related) but there are other conditions related to the general health or affecting the oral mucosa (inner skin of your mouth) that are not caused by plaque. You need a proper diagnosis to identify the cause and advise the correct treatment. If your general dentist and doctor have not been successful diagnosing or treating your condition you should request referral to a specialist in Oral Medicine. If you had the Helicobacter Pylori, this is a very common cause of stomach infection like gastritis and can also infect the gums and cause gingivitis. Common antacids can help, maintaining good oral hygiene is a must and it is advisable to avoid excessive junk food and overeating to keep away from developing stomach acidity. Helicobacter pylori infection can be easily checked with proper antibiotic therapy for total suppression of the bacteria.
