My gums are pink and swollen, do I have gum disease?

Q.
Hi I have an issue with my gums and am adamant that I do not have gum diseases such as gingivitis and/or periodontists as- other than swelling i have no symptoms of either. basically my gums have swollen up- first in an area around one of my molars (top left) then gradually making its way along the gum line, it hurts and its doing my head in! I’ve always brushed and flossed etc. and my gums are still a ‘healthy’ pink and don’t bleed- just pink swollen and painful. problem is that when i eat they rub on my cheeks which will no doubt irritate them and foods that require any kind of pressure (teeth sinking in) are a no no because they catch my gums- which hurts, I also have a swelling/lump under my jaw at the back might be nothing to do with it but its in the same kind of region thought it might help. any help would be amazing as to what it is, how it happened how to get rid etc. I don’t mind! thanks

Pink appearance of the gum surface and absence of bleeding on brushing does not necessarily mean that you have not gum disease. Pain and swelling are definitely reasons to visit your dentist as soon as possible. You may need a thorough clinical and radiographic examination of your teeth, gums and bone to find out the cause of your problem.
