I Am Very Alarmed About Having Gum Disease! Is There Anything I Can Do To Save My Wobbly Teeth?

April 22nd, 2014
Q.

Hello Dr Mitsas. I have recently visited my dentist and she says I have gum disease which I was very alarmed about, saying that four of my teeth are wobbly! Is there anything I can do now to prevent my tooth or teeth from falling out completely? If I can’t then, is there anything I can do to replace my tooth? I am 42 years old and very concerned in case I have left it too late. I didn’t visit my dentist in the last 3 years and I was shocked to discover I have gum disease. Thank you for your time.

AreI there another methods of cleaning teeth other than a deep clean?

February 22nd, 2012
Q.

my mother has had surgery 3 years ago for mouth cancer and she wears an orbitrator which is anchored to her remaining 3 teeth which have recently become very loose. She attends regular dental appts and has been advised to have a deep clean to try and save the loose teeth. She has had this treatment before and it was very painful taking about 1 hour. She would like to know if there are alternative ways of saving her teeth or a non painful method of deep cleaning. At the moment she feels by having the cleaning it will loosen the teeh more quickly and she is unsure what would happen if she could not anchor the orbitrator as she is not able to eat or speak without it being in place. She is 81 years of age and never smoked and does not drink. Any advice would be welcome before her appt on 6.3.12 best regards….

My top teeth feel a little wobbly, should I be worried?

November 28th, 2011
Q.

Hi,

I have recently seen a dentist despite not seeing him for 8-10 years as I suffer from extreme health anxiety which leaves me incapacitated. During this period i had the odd bleeding gums during brushing but nothing extreme, no pain etc. When I saw the dentist last month he said everything looked great and that my teeth and gums were fine- no disease or fillings needed.

Heres the problem, im worried that my front top teeth are mobile (only a little and only when i bite on them). The dentist assured me they were not mobile, but I have trust issues and am convinced that I have gum disease. Could there be something he’s missing or do I need a second opinion?

My teeth seem to have too much mobility, how can I stop this from occurring?

October 12th, 2011
Q.

My teeth seem to be very loose ive been noticing it a lot recently because i have a tingling sensation in my gum so when i go the bathroom mirror to check, have a clean and a poke around i notice that they seem to be loose, its not just the one either it a good few of them basically until you hit the big well rooted ones at the sides and towards the back of the mouth that it stops occurring. im not sure if this is exactly normal but like anything if you sort it before it starts your more likely to deal with it properly so i thought it was worth a shout. I brush regularly but have not been overly keen on flossing and was wondering is this poor hygiene practice or should i not worry could i have contracted gum disease and if so how do i stop it now would it be a simple case of adding flossing more frequently to my routine, if so how many times should i do it a week if i did it twice a day for a week id have no teeth left surely?

Can I do anything to instigate gum growth in order to reverse the effects of wobbly teeth?

September 20th, 2011
Q.

hi, I have several loose teeth and was wondering what I could do to sort them out or whether or not I can? they are all the front teeth on the bottom. they feel wobbly but I don’t know if its just play in the teeth? how much play should there be in teeth? if indeed there is to much play then what can I do? I know enamel on teeth cannot grow back but what about gums? if they regenerate health and stimulate growth then surely the teeth if not to far gone will they be less wobbly? im booked in for an appointment at my dentist but im not on NHS any more so I had to wait until after pay day which is in 2 weeks so I was seeking a bit of advise in the mean time, any feedback would be brilliant! thanks a lot.

I think I have a form of gum disease how can I stop it?

September 14th, 2011
Q.

Hi i’av been researching online and i have come to the conclusion that i do infact have some type of gum disease, however i am still waiting to go to the dentist to get this confirmed. Since some of my adult teeth are wobbly (only slightly) do you think a scale and root plan will sort them out? or is it more serious than that?

How can I stop my teeth being wobbly?

August 2nd, 2011
Q.

Good day to you Doctor, I can’t say that I looked after my teeth very well when I was younger because I didn’t and now as a result my adult teeth are becoming very wobbly, and my gums have receded a fair bit in addition to this. However, there not as wobbly as they use to be so Iam wondering if theres anything that I can do to reverse these affects? and if not then what do I do to stop them getting any worse than what they are? Many thanks for your time
