I have an eating disorder, my teeth and gums have become fragile, what supplements can i take to improve this?

Hello Dr Z, I’m 18 years old and for the last 2 years i have had a bit of an eating disorder. I wasn’t eating very much at all, and what i was eating wasn’t the best food. My teeth and gums have become very fragile, probably with the lack of nutrition. I’ve noticed my gums are very pale, there doesn’t look to be much blood flowing to them. I am still not eating too well, but i wanted to find out what type of supplements i could take to improve the health of my gums? Thanks Jose!

I’m pregnant and my babies heart rate has been very fast, my gums have started bleeding is this to do with the baby?

Okay I definitely need some advice! I’m a 28 year old female and I’m pregnant with my second child. I have been going to the hospital recently because the babies heartbeat has been very fast. I have been quite stressed recently and I’ve noticed my gums being sore and bleeding. I was wondering if this has anything to do with the babies heart rate or stress related? I’m worried but i didn’t want to bug a dentist so if you could answer my question that would be very kind. Thank you.

My periodontist suggested having root surface disinfectant, I’m very nervous about Local anaesthetic, is there an alternative?

I have recently visited a Periodentist to discuss problems with my teeth with a long term view to have implants. She has suggested a treatment called root surface disinfectant alongside oral Hygiene and reassessment. I have three loose teeth which she will make a decision as to whether they need to be removed after this treatment which involves Local anaesthetic. I am very nervous about LA as I have not had this before is there an alternative to this to clean the root ? without the use of local anaesthetic as I feel I may not be able to go ahead with this treatment because of this which will hold up the process of me having implants at a later stage, regards.

My rubber gum shield is making my gums itch and feels strange, am i allergic to it?

Hello Jose Zurdo, I have a quick question which I hope you can help me with, I have just started playing rugby at school. I have bought a rubber gum shield from a sports shop and I moulded it in my mouth last week. I’ve been wearing it in training the last few days and while wearing it my gums are really itchy and feel very strange? Is it possible my gums are reacting to the rubber? or am I allergic to it? Have you had any cases like this before?
