I’m pregnant and my babies heart rate has been very fast, my gums have started bleeding is this to do with the baby?

Q.
Okay I definitely need some advice! I’m a 28 year old female and I’m pregnant with my second child. I have been going to the hospital recently because the babies heartbeat has been very fast. I have been quite stressed recently and I’ve noticed my gums being sore and bleeding. I was wondering if this has anything to do with the babies heart rate or stress related? I’m worried but i didn’t want to bug a dentist so if you could answer my question that would be very kind. Thank you.

Hi, I assure you it has nothing to do with your babie’s heart rate, it can be aggravated by stress though, but most importantly it is likely to be related to your pregnancy and the hormonal changes in your body. Some women do get a lot more of gum soreness and bleeding/swelling during pregnancy.
I do advise you to see your dentist and ask for a gum check, you are likely to need some support from the hygienist with your cleaning. If you are missing out with your brushing and bacteria is aloud to grow freely around your teeth, then your body can respond more “aggressively” now that you are pregnant. Ideally dental treatments should be done during the 2nd trimester, so…please check, don’t “sleep” on it.
