Could my crowded teeth be causing gum problems?

March 5th, 2012
Q.

Hi, I’m 20 years old. I have both my bottom wisdom teeth through which I think have pushed my teeth forward which has caused the very front middle one to come all the way forward on it own, the two teeth either side of it almost touch, my gum bleeds every now and again, I can go days without it bleeding then at any random time it’ll bleed quite bad where I have to spit it out at least 4 times or more! could it be gum disease causing the bleeding?

thanks

Q.

I am having a bit of an issue of you could please help me please Dr Zurdo. I have overlapped teeth and have been dying to get some form of orthodontic treatment for anwehile now. the issue is my gums bleed and are always very tender to touch. I assume this means theres something wrong and despite decent oral hygiene for a good while there doesnt seem to be an end in site to this. I know i must have excellent oral health in order to have braces but i dont know how i can further help my situation in getting rid of this bleeding? if you could please advise me that would be great then i can get the treatment i need and have straight teeth again! than you very much.

Can you advise on proper maintenance of oral health in terms of cleaning teeth?

Q.

I have always brushed flossed etc and as such never had any problems however recently my teeth have started crossing, the issue is that I cannot get the floss down anywhere near the gum line to clean properly. i managed it once and regretted it! it wouldn’t go and i wrongly insisted it would- it did eventually just ramming into my gum and making them bleed to add insult to injury it wouldn’t then come back out! as a result ive not done it in a while I just wanted to ask what i could do about it in terms of cleaning, im getting giddy with my brush going in at all angles but am worried id be getting overzealous is there anything you could advise me on when cleaning? and would gum disease start in just a small area like that if so could it cause any damage?
