Could my crowded teeth be causing gum problems?

Q.
Hi, I’m 20 years old. I have both my bottom wisdom teeth through which I think have pushed my teeth forward which has caused the very front middle one to come all the way forward on it own, the two teeth either side of it almost touch, my gum bleeds every now and again, I can go days without it bleeding then at any random time it’ll bleed quite bad where I have to spit it out at least 4 times or more! could it be gum disease causing the bleeding?

thanks

A.
It is likely to be gingivitis (inflammation of gums without loss of supporting tissues), which is quite common to happen in crowded dentitions. You just have a harder time cleaning these with your brush and floss interdentally. These are the things you need to do, at regular intervals (no less then once a day). The use of an antibacterial mouthwash can also help in the more “active” phases. Orthodontic tooth realignment is a treatment you could contemplate to sort out the crowing and improve your cleaning ability and by that, prevent further and more severe gum problems.
