My daughter had 8 veneers last year, she recently went to her dentist who told her she needs 5 fillings one behind a veneer, could this have happened in 12 months?

My daughter had extensive work done on her teeth last year. She had around 8 veneers to build up and improve her smile. Her front tooth is dead (she was hit in the face by a football 10 years ago) and used to look grey so this was also fixed We were recommended this dentist by a friend and he has a good reputation. She has recently moved to London and has been having tooth ache. She has just returned from a dentist there having been told she needs 5 fillings, one of which is behind a veneer and that it looks like she has not been to the dentist for years. The dentist showed her xrays of where the fillings are needed. Surely her teeth could not have decayed that badly in 12 months? What should she do?

As a chef my my mouth’s health is in constant doubt, what should I do?

Q.

Hello Dr Zurdo I am a thirty four year old who has been working as a chef for about twelve years now. In many ways it has ruined me whilst making me! I have put on a lot of weight indeed! and feel this has moved my teeth about and crowded them a fair bit. also with all the sugars involved (natural salts and sugars in foods as well as the white & brown condiments/ingredients) my gums have been hit hard along with a few teeth that needed filling. My gums don’t bleed but I think that’s due to my carefulness around them when brushing, but there is some slight inflammation and a bit of tenderness in areas (not everywhere) this has only recently come to light and I want to know if this is gum disease or not? and what can be done. stay safe..

Why do I have gum disease?

July 22nd, 2011
Q.

Everytime I go to the dentist they say I have something wrong with my teeth. I took many steps.

1. I dont drink any fizzy juice or sweets packed with sugar.

2. I brush twice sometimes three times a day, in morning and after dinner but not straight after. using circular motions with the brush, angling it into my gum.

3. I use Listerine mouth wash stuff as well and occaisionally floss.

the only thing i realise iv done wrong is not flossing enough but surely what iv been doing to look after my teeth would not end up with filling after filling!

also how hard should you brush your teeth I never used to brush them too hard and i got loads of problems so i brush them a little more pressure yet still same problems!

also iv been told I could have gum disease as my gums are bleeding as well, I know gum disease is serious but I have not brought this on myself.

My diet is healthy, I don’t smoke or drink and I brush my teeth regularly.
