How far gone are my gums?

Q.
Hello, I am very worried about my gums health? I have been reading through the website here and have read the symptoms of gum disease. my gums do bleed after brushing- not all the time only when I catch them harshly, yes my gums are a little red but not very, so I thought damn- but this seems mild I best get on top of cleaning/flossing/mouthwash etc.. however I then read the ‘more advanced’ section and I have symptoms from, but not all. I often have bad breath, sensitive teeth they don’t seep pus and how can I tell if my gums are receding I cant tell? It is a lot but based on this how far would you say I am? and can simply stepping up washing/brushing etc.. stop this? and can you reverse gum recession? Its an awful lot I apologise any help will be immense. cheers

Wow! Lots of information.

In answer to your questions, if your gums have receded then your teeth will look longer than before and part of the root of the tooth may be exposed. It is impossible to say how far gone things are as this could only be done with the benefit of a check up and X-rays. I would strongly recommend that you seek advice from a dentist based on what you have told me.

Certain forms of gum recession can be reversed and this involved a surgical procedure. If the recession has been caused by gum disease it is ofetn unwise to try this procedure and other things could be tried.
