I think I spent a long time with Gingivitis. My Dentist and Hygienist did not mention anything, since then I have exercised excellent oral hygiene, my gums look and feel better, have I fixed the problem?

Mr Dunn I have a question for you please. I think I have periodontal/gum disease as I spent a lot of time with gingivitis where my gums would just bleed without being brushed and so on. I am not sure and have since seen my dentist. she did not mention anything just ummed and ahhed for a bit before referring me to the hygienist (which I was expecting as it was sometime since I had been). the hygienist also did not mention anything and after the scale and polish there was some minor bleeding .I have since exercised excellent oral hygiene and am due back in April. My gums now seem to be fine and don’t bleed at all, ever and aren’t nice and pink. Is it possible that I could have treated it or is it something that ‘needs’ to be fixed in another way and could still be eating away at me? thank you for your time and I’m sorry for the long question I just needed to explain fully my situation.

I lived in Venezuela for 2 years and for most of this I only wet brushed and flossed without toothpaste. Could this have caused any teeth or gum problems?

Q.

Hello Dr, I would like your advice please on my gums health. for the last two years I have been living in Venezuela working on various projects, I am now back home in Huddersfield. where we located was not great in terms of access to westernised products (which was amazing on the one hand). but trying to find places that sold toothpastes you could trust (that didnt look like silicone) was hard. as a result for most of this duration I wet brushed and flossed and occasionally got toothpaste. I feel I did the best I could but I was wondering if by not using toothpaste could I have caused any problems to my teeth/gums? I am due to see my dentist in a month or so where I will be checked but in a mean time knowledge is power? Thanks again

I am worried the condition of my gums would prevent the option of braces. Is there any way to check this?

Q.

Hi. I have been worried about my gums for a long time. they used to bleed when I brushed but they don’t any more. the thing is I have crooked teeth and wanted to have a brace but I am scared that my gums health will not allow this. Does the fact that I had/have something wrong with my gums mean itll be easier to contract again or not? And Is there anyway I can check to see If I have a gum problem and can it directly affect me getting brace treatment? thank you
