Hi dr, my gums are acting quite strange recently. well, i brush my teeth regularly and i use cordosyll mouthwash to prevent gum disease. i’ve noticed that when i stop using it my gums bleed and become sore. i’ve also noticed that the back of my mouth is sore and in two areas it feels as though my gums are peeling. is this something to do with the mouthwash? i’m not sure what to do because i am terrified of going to see someone about this problem. do you have any advice for me? thanks for your time.

I think I could have Trench Mouth, is this disease serious?

June 12th, 2012
Q.

Hiya Dr Jose Zurdo, a few quick questions – I’ve recently developed very painful ulcers in my mouth and quite bad breath, I’m finding it very painful to brush my teeth and even eating. A friend told me it could be something known as Trench mouth or ANUG ? is this a real disease, i’ve never heard of it. My dentist can’t fit me in for a week or so, is there anything i can do to ease the pain? and if it is this disease is it very serious? Thank you.

My gums bleed at any given time, in the day and at night. I’ve also found brown spots in my mouth. I have regular dental appointments. I am constantly using mouthwash, could this be the problem?

Hi there, I have a problem and I hope you can help – My gums bleed at any given time, even when I am just sitting at my desk. When i wake up in the morning, my mouth is brown because my gums have bled through the night. I have regular dental and hygiene appointments.I have now found a brown spot on my tongue and my cheek at the other side? can you please help? i am constantly using mouthwash and was wondering if this is the cause of the brown spots? could that possibly be burning my mouth with the chemicals? Now i have gone on to using mouthwashes without alchohol in them. Thanks

It hurts to brush near a cut on my gum but I can’t afford not to can I? What do I do?

February 22nd, 2012
Q.

Hello Doctor Zurdo, I need a bit of advice please, I have cut my gum quite horribly after an incident at work. its basically between the tooth behind my lower right incisor and the one behind that and is basically a split about 7mm long. it was painful and I have been given pain relief. it has healed somewhat but in cleaning/brushing I feel I am aggravating it and prolonging the pain I’m in. if i dont brush it I could contract gum disease/gingivitis couldn’t I? could you help me please/give me some advice on what to do? cheers

Could my holiday be the cause of my bleeding gums?

July 26th, 2011
Q.

Hello Dr Ian Dunn,
I came back from a 2 week lads holiday to greece 2 weeks ago and for the past 3weeks my ums have been bleeding and are really sore when I brush them. Could this have anything to do with my recent holiday or just a coincidence that this has started to happen, also what can i do to stop them from bleeding and get back to normal? thanks
