I’m 72 Years Old And I Have A Loose Tooth Which Hurts When I Eat. What Would You Suggest For Me To Do?

Q.
Hello Dr Mitsas. I would like some advice. I’m 72 years old and I have 2 pallets one on the top and one bottom. The one at the top as 4 teeth the one at the bottom has 2. The pallet at the bottom sits next to a tooth which is loose, and the gum on one side of my tooth has receded badly but the other side of the tooth is okay. The loose tooth is painful whenever I try to eat anything. I don’t like the thought of extraction. My dentist is NHS and he did say he could weld the loose to the good one. Do you know if this a good idea or not? Thank you for your time.
A.
Hello and thank you for getting in touch. Ideally I would need to see you in person to understand fully whether this was the correct course of action to take. You should see an experienced periodontist in your area to give you the best chance of controlling your gum disease. A second opinion is always worth having in case such as this. I hope this helps you. Best wishes, Dr Dimitrios Mitsas.
