I Am Very Alarmed About Having Gum Disease! Is There Anything I Can Do To Save My Wobbly Teeth?

Q.
Hello Dr Mitsas. I have recently visited my dentist and she says I have gum disease which I was very alarmed about, saying that four of my teeth are wobbly! Is there anything I can do now to prevent my tooth or teeth from falling out completely? If I can’t then, is there anything I can do to replace my tooth? I am 42 years old and very concerned in case I have left it too late. I didn’t visit my dentist in the last 3 years and I was shocked to discover I have gum disease. Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. You should visit a dental hygienist until the problem is under control. I would need to see you in person to assess you properly. You will need to keep to a strict regime of flossing and brushing and you will need to visit your dentist or hygienist for regular check-ups. If the worst was to happen, you would need to consider a partial denture or implants. I hope this advice helps. Kind regards, Dr Mitsas.
