How do I stop my gums spontaneously bleeding and doing so at night?

Q.
HI Mr Dunn, I’m currently half way through my second year at college and am seventeen. I’ve been having a few problems with my gums recently and whilst trying to research I found this site. I worried about my gums as I now think I may have gum disease. on occasion my gums bleed for no reason just spontaneously some times, it did it the other day in class which was really embarrassing. I have had to pull over on the bike when it’s done it and there’s always blood on my teeth in the mornings. what is this and how do I stop it?
A.
Great Oral hygiene is important but you really need to find out, by seeing a dentist, if this is Gingivitis or the destructive Periodontitis. Please make an appointment to see your dentist to get the right diagnosis and advice as soon as you can to prevent the conditions from deteriorating further. Good luck with this and college!
