How can I stop my gum disease getting worse?

Q.
Hi, I’av just been told I have gum disease off my dentist. Iam 35 so still take a lot of pride in my teeth. I’av been placed on antibiotics and started using fluriode mouthwash and flossing (not as often as i should though, really goes though me that stuff). Iam just wondering if theres anything else that i can do to prevent my gum disease getting any worse??

It is essential that your oral hygiene is efficient and you need the feed-back from your dentist or hygienist either to confirm that you do well or to correct any deficiencies. It is very helpful to measure the plaque levels in the mouth on a regular basis to identify the quantity and location of the plaque. Once you are told that your oral hygiene is efficient you need to be consistent. Of course this needs to be combined with and adequate treatment and/or maintenance regime individually designed depending on the current state of your gums that should be monitored over the time. You need a close relationship with your dentist/hygienist, teamwork is the key.
