Can You Tell Me If I Can Completely Cure My Periodontal Disease?

Q.
Hello Dr Mitsas. I have periodontal and I’m currently getting treatment, I have bad breath too. Does the disease completely cure after treatment and does the bad breath ever go away completely?

I have also read here that you brush after breakfast, I do brush as soon as I get out of bed then have my breakfast and after about an hour I use my mouthwash before I leave the house? Is this wrong, should I first have breakfast then brush my teeth? I hope you can help me with this problem.

A.
Hello, It is possible to cure gum disease, but this requires a lot of expert treatment and good oral health practice. Try to drink water throughout the day, this can help with bad breath. Your routine sounds correct currently, just floss if you have anything for breakfast that gets trapped between the teeth. The fluoride in your toothpaste should protect your teeth from eating breakfast. Thank you for your enquiry, Dr Dimitrios Mitsas.
